The Technion has many students who are actively serving in reserve service. The Academic Committee, led by the Reserve Duty Coordinator, works hard to protect the reserve duty soldiers' rights as stipulated in the laws of the state and in the Technion's regulations, and to assist them in coping with the difficulties and problems that arise as a result of active reserve service during the academic year.
For any problem and question related to a reserve service, please contact the Reserve Service Coordinator, Lior: miluim@asat.technion.ac.il
Note: The privileges granted during the academic year by the undergraduate studies do not apply in the summer semester. For further details, contact the reserve service coordinator.
Regulation 2.3.3 was approved in 2008 and came to protect the rights of students serving in reserve duty. All the rights are detailed below according to the number of days served.
Students who serve more than five days are entitled to receive a Net Stick from the association, allowing free mobile surfing for the duration of the service. Pick-up and return will take place at the counter of the bookstore until two days from the beginning/end of service for a 100 NIS cash deposit and a reserve duty call up order.
*It is recommended to arrive at the pick-up with a personal laptop to make sure it works.
* Students who have completed 150 serving days in a four years degree are entitled to a scholarship to cover an additional semester.
* Student who believe that their academic progress will be affected as a result of reserve service and assess that they will not be able to finish a course, are entitled to submit the following applications (which will comply in accordance with the regulations) :
A. Transferring partial grades to the next semester
B. Cancellation of prerequisite courses
C. Cancellation of a course
D. Registration of "incomplete (m)" in the grades printout so that it will not be included in the calculation of the failure rate, and the grade in the following semester will replace the "incomplete" registration
A student who wishes to apply for the cancellation of the reserve duty call up order shall approach the Reserve Service Coordinating Committee
For assistance in the process of submitting a request for payment from the Social Security Institute, please contact the Tax Authorities Coordinator at the TSA.
